I was sorry to read in The Montana Professor (Spring 1998) Paul Trout claiming that much of what he had written in the Fall of 1997 about student-generated numerical evaluation forms (SNEF's) was a joke.
I thought everything he wrote was "right on" and was disappointed to find he didn't really believe it. Such subtlety should not be practiced on us "science types" who take everything literally.
Sincerely,

Dear Professor Ferguson,
"By encouraging witty derision of evaluation schemes we can share our fears about them pleasurably and promote an entertaining way of defining what is [un]acceptable in their design and use." Change, February 1978.
Sincerely,
Paul Trout
