The Editorial Board of The Montana Professor dedicates this issue of the journal to the memory of
Kermit L. Hall, 1944-2006
President Hall died suddenly and unexpectedly on August 13th, shortly after we received the article appearing in this issue. Kermit was President and Professor of History at the University at Albany, State University of New York, at the time of his death. A tribute to President Hall by fellow historian Michael Mayer heads this fall's issue.
